摘要: Phototaxis is an important reaction to light displayed by a wide range of motile microorganisms. Flagellated eukaryotic microalgae in particular, like the model organism Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, steer either towards or away from rapid and precisely timed modulation their flagellar activity. Cell steering, however, only beginning much longer process which ultimately allows cells determine exposure history. This not well understood. Here we present first quantitative study long timescale phototactic motility at both single cell population levels. Our results reveal that strategy adopted these microorganisms leads efficient light, response modulated over typical timescales tens seconds. The adaptation dynamics for phototaxis chlorophyll fluorescence show striking agreement, suggesting photosynthesis controls quantitatively how navigate field.
