摘要: Objective.— To describe the status of palliative care education in under-graduate medical curriculum and to offer recommendations for improvement. Data Sources.— Review literature on recently submitted grants end-of-life care. Study Selection.— English-language reports educational programs targeted toward students were examined, as well surveys schools. Extraction.— Studies reviewed by authors assess quality program, evaluation methodology, conclusions. From over 9000 citations related topics that retrieved from MEDLINE searches 1980 through 1995, reviewing 14 journals published 1985 1996, 310 articles identified addressed care, 180 carefully examined. Synthesis.— While nearly all schools some formal teaching about there is considerable evidence current training inadequate, most strikingly clinical years. Teaching received favorably students, positively influences student attitudes, enhances communication skills. However, curricular offerings are not integrated; major format lecture; predominantly preclinical; experiences mostly elective; little attention home hospice, nursing care; role models few; encouraged examine their personal reactions these experiences.
