摘要: Background & objectives: An efficient larvivorous fish must show a predilection for mosquito larvae in the presence of alternative preys. This study compares feeding capacity and preference Aphyosemion gularis exposed to different kinds aquatic macroinvertebrates. Methods: Various prey organisms such as Anopheles pupae, Culex larvae, chironomid ostracods were either singly and/or jointly presented at densities number consumed 12 h light dark periods recorded. Results: The result showed that terms preference, significantly (p <0.05) more than pupae compared larvae. It was also found preferred chironomids while abundant ostracods. Conclusion: results indicate A. is adapted feed on one hand generally non-mosquito implication this observation other considered unlikely divert attention from especially fact are able some ostracods, means they can subsist these absence
