摘要: At the Coweeta Hydrologie Laboratory in southern Appalachians of western North Carolina, a near-stream vegetation manipulation experiment is being conducted to determine effect removal streamside Rhododendron maximum L. on export hillslope nutrients (K, Na, Ca, Mg, N, P, S) and organic matter. Experimental transects that span topographical flowpaths from local highpoint stream have been instrumented with lysimeters TDR rods at two depths, as well streambed streambank piezometers. We present review studies nutrient flux riparian zone forested watersheds. In Appalachians, we hypothesize R. keystone species interface between terrestrial aquatic systems, extensive thickets having possible impact carbon transport into streams. conceptual basis initial implementation model-based experimental design test matter upland The model terrain-based will be used extrapolate elemental measurements both spatially watershed scale temporally for various climate regimes. consists three modules: (1) objective terrain analysis (TAPES-C); (2) dynamic interception canopy module; (3) hydrology module (IHDM4) 2-D Richard's equation subsurface moisture dynamics.
