摘要: The effects of fasting on insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I, IGF-II, and IGF-binding protein (IGFBPs) mRNA in channel catfish were examined. Fed control fish (Fed) compared to that had been fasted for 30 d followed by 15 additional feeding (Restricted). Sequence alignment similarity orthologous proteins other vertebrates provided structural evidence the 3 sequences identified present research IGFBP-1, -2, -3. Prolonged (30 d) reduced body weight approximately 60% (P<0.001) decreased IGF-I liver muscle (P<0.01). Fifteen days re-feeding restored concentrations hepatic mRNA. Liver IGF-II was not affected but increased 2.2-fold after (P<0.05). Abundance similar between fed group restricted throughout experimental period. Fasting also IGFBP-1 (P<0.05) IGFBP-3 (P<0.01), whereas abundance IGFBP-2 significantly affected. Interestingly, did restore relative concentrations. IGF results suggest are differently regulated nutritional status probably have a differential effect promoting during recovery from fasting. Similar mammals, is catabolism, inhibited somatic growth. IGFBP provide conserved nature IGF-IGFBP-growth axis catfish.
