摘要: Pulmonary aspiration of gastric contents can cause a spectrum sequelae that spans from relatively minor to rapidly lethal disease. To emphasize the extent this and encompass both noninfectious complications infection, we use term “aspiration-induced pulmonary injury” rather than “aspiration pneumonia.” In article review relevant literature, focusing on more recent insights into pathogenesis lung injury, natural history aspiration, risk factors, relationship between recommendations for management. The relevance human disease studies using intra-airway acid instillation in animals is questioned. We discuss difficulties predicting clinical course after aspiration. identify factors aspiration-induced injury are commonly encountered intensive care unit, detail special interest intensivist, including impact tracheal intubation; effects enteric intubation, particularly comparison pre- postpyloric routes feeding administration; relative risks associated with particular protocols. conclude regarding treatment prevention strategies.
