摘要: Catheter-directed embolization therapies for oncologic indications are increasingly gaining importance. Basically, these minimally invasive include locoregional, tumoricidal therapies, pre-, or postoperative adjunctive treatments as well palliative management options. Although different materials used depending on the indications, interventional approach is in most of cases similar: a diagnostic catheter placed feeding, large artery, and through this guiding catheter, coaxial “microcatheter” with its tip close possible to target tumoral implants. Once microcatheter correctly positioned, chemotherapeutic agents can be carefully injected order obtain very high drug concentrations within tumor low(er) peripheral blood, resulting response rates systemic toxicity rates. Additionally, occluding microparticles during immediately after infusion add an ischemic effect create slower washout phenomenon cytostatic agents. In case emergency conditions bleeding tumors, transcatheter injection embolics without may sufficient stabilize patient’s condition.
