A comprehensive review on Psidium guajava Linn (Amaratafalam)

摘要: Plants for thousands of years have been used to enhance health and medicinal purposes. Psidium guajava is one which has an enormous wealth value. Linn, belonging the Myrtaceae family, has reported anti-diarrheal, hepatoprotective, hypoglycemic, lipid lowering, antibacterial antioxidant activities. an important food crop plant in tropical subtropical countries widely like folk medicine around world. The phytochemical screening bark revealed presence metabolites and compounds tested such as flavonoids, tannins, reducing sugar, terpenes, saponin, anthraquinones alkaloids. The proximate analysis dried gave a moisture content 0.41 %, ash value 11.5 acid insoluble 4.5 Water soluble 9.5 alcohol soluble extractive 20.8 % water 24.8 %.
