摘要: Selective catheterization of hepatic, intestinal and adrenal veins with blood sampling for serotonin catecholamine determination was evaluated regarding its use in the diagnosis, location characterization carcinoids pheochromocytomas. Catheterization via transhepatic route femoral caval performed 49 patients without major complications. High pressure liquid chromatography electrochemical detection used to quantitate norepinephrine epinephrine plasma whole blood. Serotonin also determined by an enzymatic procedure. In 30 suspected or verified carcinoid tumors concentration tumor-draining clearly elevated all but one. this patient, who previously had been treated temporary liver dearterialization, hepatic vein within normal range spite existence metastases. Hyperserotoninemia registered one patient detectable tumor cells. three venous diagnosed a hyperplasia medulla. these cases angiography computed tomography were negative. Microscopic analyses revealed substance P-like immunoreactivity large percentage tumors. PP-like glucagon-like observed two endocrine pancreatic medulla medullary tissue fluorescence enkephalin-like demonstrated. pheochromocytomas ACTH-like, somatostatin-like calcitonin-like immunoreactivities identified. The technique determinations catecholamines combination selective is useful investigation follow-up
