摘要: Active counterpositioning and orthotic helmets are the two main nonsurgical management options for positional plagiocephaly. The purpose of this study was to compare these regimens. We included a random sample infants referred between January 1, 1998 October 31, 1999 Middlemore Hospital Auckland Surgical Center, Two-dimensional head tracings were taken each infant, every 3 12 months. From tracings, we obtained Cranial Index Vault Asymmetry Index. Seventy-nine assessed during an average 48.2 weeks. Five had normal therefore excluded from study. Of 74 in study, 45 managed with active counterpositioning, 29 helmets. Average time 63.7 weeks, 21.9 weeks helmet treatment. For change 1.9%. In group, 1.8%. Orthotic have outcome comparable that although period is approximately three times shorter. generally slightly better than after period.
