摘要: Steroids are endocrine disrupting compounds in human and distributed various environments. Our previous study showed that a marine bacterium Rhodococcus sp. P14 was able to efficiently degrade one typical steroid estradiol. In this study, we could also use other steroids, including estriol testosterone, as sole carbon source for growth. Two dehydrogenation products, 16-hydroxestrone androst-4-ene-3, 17-dione, were detected during testosterone degradation, respectively. By screening the genome, short chain dehydrogenase gene identified named 17β-HSDx. Expression of 17β-HSDx induced when estriol, estradiol or used single source. addition, shown have ability transforming 16-hydroxestrone, estrone 17-dione. This is first bacteria with on steroids substrates. Overall, reveals has potential application bioremediation contaminated environment.
