摘要: This work uses Monte Carlo radiation transport simulation to assess the potential benefits of gold nanoparticles (AuNP) in treatment neovascular age-related macular degeneration with stereotactic radiosurgery. Clinically, a 100 kVp x-ray beam 4 mm diameter is aimed at macula deliver an ablative dose single fraction. In model, AuNP accumulated bottom are targeted source representative clinical order provide enhanced diseased endothelial cells. It observed that, because AuNP, cells can be significantly enhanced, allowing for greater sparing optic nerve, retina and other neighboring healthy tissue. For 20 nm concentration 32 mg g(-1), which has been shown achievable vivo, enhancement ratio (DER) 1.97 was found possible, could potentially increased through appropriate optimization quality and/or targeting. A significant seen vicinity layer within 30 μm, peaked AuNP-tissue interface. Different angular tilting results similar enhancement. The DER inside penumbra irradiation-field almost same while actual delivered more than one magnitude lower outside field leading normal tissue sparing. prescribed using half reduction organs such as retina/optic nerve by 49% when compared without AuNP.
