摘要: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to document how Paul Otlet, founding‐father what termed at present as “information science”, attempted provide a complete “image the world” (and reality in general) by establishing scientific discipline he dubbed “documentation”. also aims focus on Otlet represented human knowledge and systematic unified way.Design/methodology/approach A close reading Otlet's primary works some his personal archives was undertaken.Findings Most importantly, it shown that views documentation were immersed cosmological, objectivist, humanitarian ontological framework alien contemporary information science.
