摘要: Serious infections caused by the Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) have been increasingly recognized over last three decades. However, epidemic of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) has increased interest in these infections. Disseminated mycobacterial disease is common patients with AIDS, and MAC predominant bacterial isolate. Indeed, at UCLA Medical Center, organisms are now isolates both AIDS- non-AIDS-associated disease. lung difficult to treat. Complex regimens employing four six drugs not clearly effective usually associated considerable toxicity. Treatment AIDS particularly frustrating, evidence that treatment can either eradicate or prolong life limited. invariably resistant traditional antituberculosis medications. We examined a variety other compounds, our findings, based on vitro animal-model studies, identified which, when used combination, potentially therapeutic utility.
