摘要: Portal hypertension (PH) is a common complication in children with chronic liver disease, and its major manifestation, variceal bleeding, represents cause of morbidity this setting. Although often self-limiting, gastrointestinal bleeding regarded as frightening event by patients carers, giving the impression impending death. PH complications are also among commonest indications to transplantation, therefore having relevance management pediatric disease. For these reasons, it important raise awareness on natural history children, utility tools that help preventing managing acute signs predicting poor outcome, thus indicating surgery. Unlike adults, setting, there lack data pathophysiology, clinical features, effective altering outcome PH, managed according guidelines developed adults. In chapter, we discuss advances made compare larger adult experience, propose diagnostic therapeutic algorithms for complications.
