摘要: Sustainable agriculture also aims at increasing the yield of food and fiber crops reducing incidence pests diseases to such a degree that they do not cause extensive damage crops. With advent chemical pesticides in 1940s, this crisis was resolved great extent. But overdependence on eventual uninhibited use them has caused serious health environmental problems. This concern encouraged researchers look for better alternatives synthetic pesticides. Biopesticides can make important contribution sustainable help reduce reliance microbial insecticide likeBacillus thuringiensis (Bt) produces proteinic toxin which induces paralysis midgut brings about cessation feeding after being ingested by insect pests. Other promising candidates areBeauveria bassiana andMetarrhizium anisopliae. The spores penetrate host cuticle, once inside body, producing toxic metabolites called beauvericin (B. bassiana) destruxins(M. anisopliae) responsible death insects. Baculoviruses (Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus Granulosis Virus) are safe human beings wildlife, their specificity is very narrow. They infect beneficial insects have capacity persist environment, making suitable agriculture. Semiochemicals: attractants pheromones, botanicals sources agrochemicals used management degrade rapidly therefore, considered safer than environment.
