摘要: This paper discusses the Neogene tectonic evolution using an integrated approach of field observations and microtectonic study supported on seismic data well arguments, carried out Chaouat-Mannouba area (Northern Tunisia). allowed highlighting elbow-shaped graben with two branches oriented NW-SE E-W. During Neogene, was affected by geodynamic interactions controlled simultaneously convergence Eurasian African plates. These generated both compressive extensional regimes which led to a variety structures. Palaeostresses deformation axis reconstruction related evidences episodes. The first, Aquitanian-Tortonian age, consists in extensive regime associated strike-slip deformation. second is upper Miocene Quaternary age; has been N-S kinematic highlights neotectonic system inducing paleoseismic events actual seismicity northeastern Tunisia might be fault reactivations. chronology deformations allows better understanding recent Greater Tunis Tunisia) context foreland basin Tunisian Alpine chain.
