Importance of optimization of functionalization of single walled carbon nanotube with special reference to mechanical, viscoelastic and adhesive characteristics of vinyl terminated polydimethyl siloxane

摘要: Abstract This paper highlights the structure-property relationship of optimally functionalized single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) incorporated vinyl terminated polydimethyl siloxane (VPDMS). Our previous studies revealed that functionalization SWCNTs for 4 h (FSWCNT-4) incorporates maximum concentration functional groups with least defects on surface. Hence, to validate utility FSWCNT-4 in VPDMS, nanocomposites different nanotubes were prepared through platinum catalysed hydrosilylation route where processing conditions controlled ultrasonication. When physico-mechanical properties these compared those using extent time, it was found a better interaction between VPDMS and SWCNT observed composite containing (FSWCNT-4). The polymer-filler reflected improved mechanical thermal which attributed optimum nanotube. site matrix has been identified computational studies. Mechanical proved cyclic hydroxyl FSWCNT- 4 imparting an enhancement 220% tensile strength 272% modulus.
