Effectiveness of psychoeducational intervention for rural Chinese families experiencing schizophrenia

摘要: Background: The aim of this study was to explore the characteristics and efficacy psychoeducational family intervention for persons with schizophrenia in rural China. Methods: A cluster randomised controlled trial families experiencing (three groups, 326 cases) conducted Xinjin County, Chengdu. Treatment groups consisted medication, medication alone, a control. Results: results showed gain knowledge, change relatives' caring attitudes towards patients, an increase treatment compliance group (p < 0.05, 0.001). Most importantly, relapse rate over 9 months (16.3 %) half that drug-only (37.8 %), just one-quarter control (61.5 0.05). Antipsychotic drug families' patients after 9-month follow-up were significantly associated clinical outcome Conclusions: In China, should focus on improving recognition illness, attitude compliance, prevention, training patients' social functioning. This trial, one largest literature, has shown is effective suitable psychiatric rehabilitation Chinese communities.
