Calculation of reflectivity spectra for semi-infinite two-dimensional photonic crystals

摘要: This work involves the development of a finite-element method model to examine optical properties two-dimensional photonic crystals (PCs). The is capable studying effect finite number periods in PC structure. new design minimizes computational resources by modeling with one infinite dimension periodic boundary conditions while second dimensions. allows for calculation transmission and reflection spectra across A difference frequency domain (FDFD) has been created band compared obtained through found closely match. capabilities are demonstrated calculating spectrum various parameters: period length, periods, incident light polarization, material properties. Effects varying these parameters demonstrated. For example, reflectivity GaAs/Air was reach greater than 95% when 10 periods; it exceeds 99% 13 reaches 99.9% at 15 periods.
