摘要: Abstract: Ricklefs’s recent call to investigate ecological processes at large scales helps focus ecologists’ attention on an undoubtedly important topic. However, we believe that some of his accompanying arguments for the primacy such work and, in particular, need “disintegrate” local community concept are flawed. We revisit main tenets and demonstrate research communities is a vital part understanding diversity across range spatial temporal scales. The integration expands our horizons ecology evolution, this should not be unnecessarily constrained one extreme or other.
