Physical and optical properties of Bi2O3-B2O3 glasses

摘要: Bismuth borate glasses with composition xBi2O3-(100-x) B2O3 (where x is in mol %, ranging from 25 to 50 steps of 5) have been prepared using conventional melt quenching technique. The physical parameters like molar volume, oxygen packing density and optical basicity evaluated the measured values density. It found that density, volume increases where as decreases increase bismuth content. absorption studies revealed cutoff wavelength while band gap energy (Eopt) Urbach (ΔE) Bi2O3 Eopt these are be range 3.338 3.025 eV ΔE lies 0.467 0.237 eV. Using oxide ion polarizability evaluated. αo2- obtained agreement those calculated constituent oxides.
