摘要: With the gain in popularity and use of 'functional energy drinks' (FEDs), manufacturers these beverages have been making greater claims as to their benefits on a number performance factors including mental alertness, energy, physical performance. Few experimental studies conducted FEDs, no study date has examined effects over time. This looked at consumption 5-h ENERGY® shot (5-HES) various cognitive functions across five hours 24 college-aged students using double-blind, cross-over, placebo-based design. Participants completed series computer-based tests before ingesting beverage (either 5-HES or placebo) then for each next (morning midday). One week later, they repeated process with other beverage. While 90% participants subjectively thought that was effective one-hour post-ingestion, evidence found support an enhanced effect recognition, reaction time, short-term working memory, attention capacity. In conclusion, Energy Shot® did not significantly improve short- long-term function selected tasks despite high level perception it effectively compared placebo participants.
