摘要: BACKGROUND The rise of managed care has increased interest in measuring, reporting, and improving quality care. To date, assessment relied on a leading indicator approach, which may miss important variations The authors developed cancer specific indicators using novel case-based approach for measurement tool designed to compare different organizations. METHODS Based review the literature, were 6 types human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) as well 39 general adult conditions (GAC). validity feasibility these candidate evaluated three modified Delphi expert panels. strength evidence, type (preventive, acute, or chronic), function (screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up), modality (history, physical examination, laboratory, medication, other intervention) cancer/HIV compared with GAC. RESULTS The final system included 117 145 proposed (81%) 569 705 GAC (81%). A greater percentage based evidence from clinical trials (59% vs. 31%; P = 0.001). Cancer/HIV had significantly more pertaining chronic than did (74% 56%; 0.001) treatment (53% 39%; 0.004). CONCLUSIONS Using it is feasible develop that cover continuum Future studies will evaluate reliability measurements made plans. Cancer 2000;88:701–7. © 2000 American Society.
