摘要: Ecosystem services support the livelihoods and wellbeing of millions people in developing countries. However, benefits from ecosystem are rarely, if ever, distributed equally within communities. Little work has examined whether how socio-economic characteristics (e.g. age, poverty, education) related to value prioritize services. We interviewed 372 connected coral reef fisheries 28 communities across four countries western Indian Ocean. Each fisher ranked importance nine service benefits, then rated which they most desired an improvement quantity or quality. disaggregated their responses see years formal schooling influence fishers rank Overall, we found little empirical evidence strong differences between groups. wealthiest did improvements habitat recreational more than other fishers. Our findings emphasize that directly dependent on for livelihood hold mostly similar values priorities poverty influences supporting associated with environmental care, this case benefits. Making similarities explicit can help decision-makers target frame management be socially inclusive equitable therefore, effective.
