摘要: Despite the fact that human ability to perceive a high degree of realism is directly related our depth accurately in scene, most commonly used imaging and display technologies are able provide only 2D rendering 3D real world. Many current as well emerging applications areas entertainment, remote operations, industrial medicine can benefit from perception offered by stereoscopic video systems which employ two views scene imaged under constraints imposed visual system. Among many challenges be overcome for practical realization widespread use 3D/stereoscopic efficient techniques digital compression enormous amounts data while maintaining compatibility with normal decoding systems. After brief discussion on relationship 3DTV TV HDTV, we present an overview tools MPEG-2 standard relevant video, main topic this paper. Next, determine ways temporal scalability concepts applied exploit redundancies inherent between comprising video. Due consideration given masking properties vision bandwidth partitioning realize coding scheme providing sufficient quality. Simulations performed resolution compare performance configurations each other simulcast solution. Preliminary results quite promising indicate configuration exploits motion disparity compensation significantly outperforms one alone. Compression both stereo appears feasible total 8 or 9 Mbit/s.
