摘要: The paper considers the "GR-desideratum", that is, way general relativity implements covariance, diffeomorphism invariance, and background independence. Two cases are discussed where 5-dimensional generalizations of run into interpretational troubles when GR-desideratum is forced upon them. It shown how conceptual problems dissolve such a desideratum relaxed. In end, it suggested similar strategy might mitigate some major issues as problem time or embedding quantum non-locality relativistic spacetimes.
