Pedagogic prestidigitation: using magic tricks to enhance educational videos.

摘要: Previous research suggests that magic tricks can be employed within an educational context to enhance attention, engagement, critical thinking and recall. This study builds on this work by examining the impact of incorporating into online video. Adult participants (N = 198) completed a need for cognition scale then watched video containing either several bespoke card had been specially devised help tell story Apollo Moon landings (Magic Video), or almost identical did not contain any (Control Video). All rated their levels absorption Compared Control Video, Magic Video was as significantly more interesting, informative absorbing. There no difference between groups positive correlation participants' scores, degree which they found were willing share it with others. The theoretical, methodological practical implications these results are discussed, along recommendations future work.
