摘要: Connexin43 (Cx43) is commonly associated with direct cell-cell communication through gap junctions (GJs). However, recent groundbreaking studies have challenged this dogma, implicating Cx43 in other biological processes, such as transcription, metabolism, autophagy, and ion channel trafficking. How participates these processes remains largely unknown, although its high turnover rate, capacity to bind myriad proteins, the discovery of truncated isoforms Cx43, ascribe protein unanticipated roles chief that require fine-tuned regulation. Accordingly, can be regarded a central integrative hub which diverse cues converge processed concerted manner. In review, we examine noncanonical discuss implications functions human diseases future therapeutic strategies.
