Isolation and development of microsatellite loci in an African Woodpecker (Campethera nivosa) using polymerase chain reaction and DNA sequencing

摘要: The Buff-spotted Woodpecker (Campethera nivosa) is a resident bird species that distributed in lowland rainforest habitats from western to eastern Africa. We developed species-specific microsatellite markers examine the population genetics of this species. Twenty-one loci were isolated C. nivosa. Of these, 15 found amplify consistently. These then tested for variability individuals different forest localities. number alleles ranged 3 13 per locus, with observed and expected heterozygosity ranging 0.100 0.917 0.485 0.901, respectively. Four exhibited significant heterozygote deficiency while one had an excess heterozygotes.
