摘要: A synoptic microbial assessment of groundwater has been carried to describe the quality and its geochemical environment in Pondicherry region located southeast part India. Spatial vertical variability dissolved oxygen (DO) chemical species clearly explain that regional geological settings associated with human pressure are controlling this region. Results show abundance bacteria is positively related DO, total organic carbon (TOC) inversely well depth, whereas sulphate reducing (SRB) present at some locations do not any systematic trend above parameters. About half measured samples showed presence E. coli. Some suboxic deep aquifers (DO ≤ 2 mg/L) E.coli which commonly observed. SRB found mostly deeper Tertiary Cretaceous reflecting conditions. The rapid accumulation matter heterotrophic conditions increased prevalence redox sensitive coastal zones Reducing formations availability Marcasite these may lead possible arsenic contamination groundwater. Climate change induced sea level rise pollution exacerbate nutrient region, warrants a detailed investigation so proper protection strategies for sustainable management resources along Indian zone can be proposed.
