摘要: The ability of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) to reverse established nerve disorders was investigated in the peripheral neuraxis streptozotocin-diabetic rats. Sciatic sensory and motor conduction velocity deficits after 2 months diabetes were completely normalized by one further month treatment with either NT-3 or insulin. None these changes associated altered mean axonal caliber sciatic nerve. In dorsal ventral roots, significantly decreased 8 weeks (both P < 0.05). Subsequently, insulin, but not NT-3, increased age-matched control values. also without effect on significant 0.05) decrease phosphorylated heavy neurofilament (NFH) subunits seen roots 12 week diabetic sural nerve, attenuated a maturation-associated increase over first diabetes, induced atrophy between that ameliorated both insulin treatment. These data demonstrate corrects rats manner independent this Further, although decreases subunit phosphorylation spinal reversal nerves may involve NT-3-mediated normalization aberrant phosphorylation.
