摘要: Carbon-supported Pt–Au (Pt–Au/C) catalyst is prepared separately by impregnation, colloidal and micro-emulsion methods, characterized physical electrochemical methods. Highest catalytic activity towards oxygen-reduction reaction (ORR) exhibited Pt–Au/C method. The optimum atomic ratio of Pt to Au in method determined using linear-sweep cyclic voltammetry conjunction with cell-polarization studies. Among 3:1, 2:1 1:1 catalysts, (3:1) exhibits maximum ORR. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern transmission electron micrograph suggest alloy nanoparticles be well dispersed onto the carbon-support. Energy dispersive analysis inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy data that ratios alloying elements match expected values. A polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) operating at 0·6 V cathode delivers a power-density 0·65 W/cm 2 relation 0·53 W/cm delivered PEFC pristine carbon-supported cathode.
