摘要: • In an unselected population of elderly (over age 60 years) men and women (the original cohort the Framingham Study), prevalence thyroid deficiency, evidenced by a clearly elevated serum thyrotropin (TSH) level (>10 μU/mL), was 4.4%. Women had deficiency (5.9%) more often than (2.3%). Of those with TSH levels, only 39% low thyroxine (T4) levels; remainder T4levels in lower half normal range. Others slightly (5 to 10 μU/mL); their status not clear, but (12.7%) expected. The T4was sensitive measure nor routine examination physician, even when patient's background contained clue possible problem. An marker way detect it. Further studies are needed determine relationship cognitive cardiovascular function older persons. (Arch Intern Med1985;145:1386-1388)
