Treatment of E. boehmi infection in a mixed-breed dog using milbemycin oxime.

摘要: Numerous bipolar plugged capillarid eggs were detected on a routine centrifugal fecal flotation examination of 2 yr old castrated male boxer-Chinese shar pei mixed-breed. The identified as Eucoleus boehmi (E. boehmi), the nasal capillarid, based size and shell wall surface morphology. dog had history chronic sneezing (> 5 times/day) intermittent postexercise discharge. Currently, there are no anthelmintics approved for use in dogs treatment E. boehmi. Treatment with 0.5–1 mg/kg milbemycin oxime was ineffective, but resulted negative examinations 7–28 days mo posttreatment. dog’s postexertion discharge greatly lessened, behavior improved (it only noted 2–3 times/wk), neither nor completely resolved following anthelmintic treatments.
