摘要: Disseminated intravascular coagulation in 4 full-term infants and one 4-year-old child was successfully treated with exchange transfusions of stored, 12- to 72 hour old, citrated whole blood. Heparin not used. The causative, or related, disorders included the respiratory distress syndrome, ABO incompatibility, streptococcal sepsis. In all patients, except one, an infant galactosemia streptococcemia, clotting factors promptly returned normal. galactosemic sepsis, a rebound delay occurred return normal secondary disorder following correction metabolic defect. mechanism action is, part, related “clearing” process by transfusion, which, because ready availability, should receive priority as treatment choice for disseminated newborn probably older patients well.
