摘要: Polycrystalline higher manganese silicides (HMS) with Ge additions were prepared by induction melting followed hot-pressing. The phase structures and microstructure of the pellets investigated, their thermoelectric properties measured from room temperature to 650°C. It was found that solubility in HMS limited around 1.6%, beyond which an extra SiyGe1−y appeared. electrical conductivity continuously enhanced additions, while Seebeck coefficient slightly decreased. thermal showed first a decreasing then increasing relationship additions. cells, mainly along c-axis, remarkably enlarged substitution Ge, probably resulted enhancement phonon scattering due increased number defects, reducing conductivity. dimensionless figure merit optimized polycrystals improved more than 30% compared pure material.
