摘要: Haemoglobin (Hb) abnormalities though quite frequent, are generally detected in populations during surveys and programmes run for prevention of Hb disorders. Several methods now available detection abnormalities. In this review, the following discussed: (i) used characterization haemoglobin disorders; (ii) problems linked to diagnosis thalassaemic trait; (iii) strategy common variants; (iv) difficulties identification rare variants. The differences between developing industrialized countries strategies employed abnormal haemoglobins considered. We mention limits pitfalls each approach necessity characterize using at least two different methods. recommended is use a combination cation-exchange high performance chromatography (CE-HPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE) when possible isoelectric focusing (IEF). Difficult cases may demand further investigations requiring specialized protein and/or molecular biology techniques.
