Binge eating in adults: prevalence and association with obesity, poor self-rated health status and body dissatisfaction.

摘要: Objective To estimate the prevalence of episodes binge eating and to assess potential associations with nutritional status, satisfaction current body weight, self-rated health status weight. Design A cross-sectional population-based study. Binge was assessed using adapted questions from Brazilian Portuguese version Questionnaire on Eating Weight Patterns defined as binging one or more times over last 3 months before interview. Setting City Pelotas, southern Brazil. Subjects Individuals (n 2097) aged 20–59 years. Results The recurrent 7·9 % 2·7 %, respectively. In adjusted analysis, obesity, fair/poor dissatisfaction remained strongly associated eating. Conclusions study showed a high among adults in being higher younger women, obese those who desired weigh less. results are informative, but longitudinal studies would be needed demonstrate causal relationship between these events.
