Epidemiology of Schistosomiasis among Villagers of the New Halfa Agricultural Scheme, Sudan.

摘要: Background: Schistosomiasis is one of the major communicable diseases public health and socioeconomic importance in developing countries. This study assessed situation schistosomiasis among villagers New Halfa Agricultural Scheme, Sudan. Methods: An epidemiological survey was carried out three randomly selected residential sites: Village 19, 26 Talat shagrat Camp, from October to December 2013. Feces urine samples were collected 2433 individual (1195 male 1238 female) examined for infection. The prevalence intensity infection calculated according sites participants’ sex age-group. Results: There no with Schistosoma haematobium individuals, while overall S. mansoni 27.4% mean those infected 261.1 eggs per gram (epg). A high preva­lence found residents followed by other two villages. males 41.4%, females 13.9%. On hand, in­fection 293.4 epg 187.6 epg. age-groups 11-20 years > 50 years. High present 31-40 Conclusion: finding shows need an integrated control program against schistosomiasis. Mass treatment, provision adequate clean-water supply combating intermediate snail host are suggested.
