摘要: Background: Studies of ecological speciation tend to focus on a few model biological systems. In contrast, studies non-model organisms have been able infer as the underlying mechanism evolutionary divergence. Questions: What are pitfalls in studying that lead this bias? alternative approaches might redress balance? Organism: Genetically differentiated types killer whale (Orcinus orca) exhibiting differences prey preference, habitat use, morphology, and behaviour. Methods: Review literature ecology search any difficulty demonstrating causal links between variation phenotype, ecology, reproductive isolation organism. Results: At present, we do not enough evidence conclude adaptive phenotype traits linked underlie sympatric types. Perhaps has occurred, but it is hard prove. We will probably face outcome whenever wish address ‐ species which easy apply experimental comparative among multiple taxon pairs. need new genomic identify genes under selection then link alleles phenotypic isolation.
