摘要: Heterotrophic bacteria associated with the Caribbean sclerosponge, Ceratoporella nicholsoni (Hickson), were found to occur extracellularly and confined mesohyl regions of sponge tissue. Physiological, metabolic, morphological attributes culturable recorded by using numerical taxonomy methods for analysis 158 phenotypic attributes. Morphometric used determine proportion total sponge-associated that employed, results ranging from 3 11% inhabiting sponge. Approximately 78% clustered into four groups or phena, representing two previously undescribed Vibrio spp., an Aeromonas sp., a coryneform- actinomycete-like sp. Most facultative anaerobes, fermenting sucrose fucose but unusual in inability ferment glucose. This study was first comprehensive heterotrophic basin, region reputed contain most prolific populations, respect biomass diversity. The possible significance these associations is discussed.
