摘要: Reproduction in the pouched mouse (Saccostomus campestris) is inhibited winter field and this seasonality not controlled by photoperiod alone. The present study examines hypothesis that reproduction opportunistic (sensu Bronson 1989) inhibition of a reduction either food quantity or quality. Food restriction (70 % normal daily intake) for six weeks, under short day conditions, was associated with significant decrease body fat index mass accessory glands, testes epididymides, while high-fibre diet resulted masses both glands epididymides. A low-fibre / low-protein had no effect on reproductive organs. Although three experimental diets assimilation significantly less energy than controls, they did inhibit spermatogenesis. We conclude Eastern Cape Province probably may be available which results from combination lower ambient temperatures reduced
