A deep survey of galaxies

摘要: We present a sample of galaxies in six fields, each area 2 sq deg, located the North and South galactic polar caps. Photoelectrically calibrated photographic magnitudes J-F colors have been determined for 512 brighter than completeness limits which range from F = 16.5 to 17.2 among fields. Velocities, with typical accuracies 150 km s/sup -1/, obtained 280 galaxies. Using these data previously published work, we determine general galaxy luminosity function parameters be M(/sub F/ -22.7, ..cap alpha.. -1.25, mean visual density universe rho 2.3 x 10/sup 8/ h L/sub sun/ Mpc/sup -3/. Assuming M/L/sub v/ 300h, this implies omega.. approx. =0.26.
