Emerging dimensions of networked energy citizenship: the case of coal seam gas mobilisation in Australia

摘要: Coal Seam Gas (CSG) activities have mobilised new political coalitions across the traditional left/right divide in eastern Australian states. Through charting of these we propose concept 'networked energy citizenship' to capture tensions between fossil fuel capital and rural urban alliances that form response a range concerns unexpected connections. These include bubbling rivers, pipelines routes duties thrust upon landholders. We emphasise advantages analysing online data around issues as part qualitative gathering. This article reports empirical findings from custom database tweets CSG theorises politics knowledge at stake this challenge state-appointed expertise. apply Economic Sociology concepts 'bridging' 'brokering', analyse distinctive structure issue networks CSG; however, remain wary claims predictive power which tend gloss material conditions character networks. For reason, expressions concern unconventional gas should be understood 'events' implicated wider set economic, techno-scientific processes.
