Creativity, personality and word association responses: associative behaviour in forty supposedly creative persons

摘要: Abstract In the context of Eysenck's assumptions on relationship between psychoticism, creativity and word association behaviour, a previous experiment was repeated with sample 40 writers actors. The procedure consisted free single-word test 25 common German nouns, response condition, an individual ratings as to commonness or uncommonness subjects' own associates multiple-choice test. addition Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) filled out. Previously studied samples schizophrenics unselected healthy persons served control groups. As predicted by theory previously obtained results, presumed creative scored significantly higher dimension psychoticism but differed in no other personality scale. creatives gave even fewer primary responses than yet their associative behaviour did not resemble that mental patients should be described connection `associative disturbances'. They performed best condition used high potential respond accordance instruction. presented logical errors were well capable assessing degree associations. These results can understood strong corroboration theory.
