摘要: Abstract Simulation of a wave climate for the Atlantic Ocean through hindcasting is discussed in terms methods obtaining historical wind fields and available numerical models directional spectra. Available, gridded pressure data produced recently by U. S. Navy Fleet Numerical Weather Central a-re shown to be distorted near major storms leading necessity redigitizing storm areas from synoptic weather charts optimal method areaas stnoptic charts. The using most oceanographic produce one which surface field estimated field, temperature (air sea) planetary boundary layer model. Afterwards, ships wind-field observations are blended into estimate. A root-mean-square error less than 3 mps on speed appears obtainable. Several spectral estimation reviewed. Each model examined source mechanisms propagation schemes. Models with wave-wave interaction appear perform better tests growth fetch as well estimation. fourth-order or ray schemes adequate oceanic hindcasts while first order disperse.
