摘要: Background: mHealth interventions can help to improve the physical well-being of participants. Unfortunately, often have low adherence and high attrition. One possible way increase is instructing participants complete self-affirmation exercises. Self-affirmation exercises been effective in increasing many types positive behaviors. However, involve extensive essay writing, a task that not easy on mobile platforms. Objective: This study aimed adapt exercise form better suited for delivery through app targeting healthy eating behaviors, test effect differing doses behavior change goals over time. Methods: We examined how varied affected an used 28 days. divided into 4 total conditions using 2×2 factorial design. The first independent variable was whether participant received initial exercise. second ongoing booster self-affirmations throughout 28-day study. To examine mechanisms which may cause change, we analyzed three aspects effects our research. First, by Second, reduced attrition rates from app. Third, model change. Results: Analysis 3556 observations 127 indicated higher resulted improved intervention (coefficient 1.42, SE 0.71, P=.04). increased did seem translate decrease (P value range .61-.96), although definition conservative. Finally, intentions change; built intention (R2=.39, P<.001), but directly affect final .09-.93). Conclusions: Self-affirmations successfully recommended diet health context this does reduce overall developed were simple implement had cost both users developers.
