摘要: Chorioretinal vascular conditions are among the leading causes of blindness in industrialized societies. Blocking effects VEGF stabilizes vision majority eyes and moderately improves (>15 letters) approximately one-third patients. Unfortunately, some patients fail to respond therapy withdrawal treatment usually leads worsening vision. PDGF promotes pericyte coverage neovascular vessels confers stability with resistance anti-VEGF therapy. Though pre-clinical evidence suggests that anti-PDGF monotherapy pathological neovascularization is ineffective, combining agents regression ocular neovascularization. Monthly injections both ranibizumab (an antibody fragment) E10030 (fovista, an aptamer) exudative AMD results gains exceed those (+10.6 vs +6.5 letters; p = 0.019) significant shrinkage complex.
