摘要: While antibiotic resistance is quickly rising in Gram-negative bacteria, the recent spread of a new trait, namely, New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM-1), represents an important medical issue. This carbapenemase compromises efficacy almost all β-lactams, including last resort carbapenems. The transferable NDM-1 gene identified variety enterobacterial species, leading to multidrug Enterobacteriaceae. In particular, NDM-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli may cause severe nosocomial infections, urinary tract peritonitis, septicemia, pulmonary infections. producers are source hospital community-acquired very difficult control. Therapeutic options limited colistin, tigecycline, fosfomycin. main reservoirs NDM currently Indian subcontinent, Balkan states, Middle East. Rapid diagnostic techniques isolation infected patients carriers factors try contain this outbreak, which threatens modern medicine.
